Each year the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program presents an interactive, one-hour adaptation of an LTSF mainstage production that is created with the young audience member in mind at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park. We also share the production with other venues throughout the Reno/Sparks, Minden and Tahoe/Truckee region.
This FREE program (suggested donation $5 per adult; $1 per child) affords an amazing live theater experience for young audience members and their families while simultaneously providing opportunities for young and aspiring actors from regional middle and high schools to participate in the production as performers!
Since its inception, Young Shakespeare performances have connected over 60,000 children to the classics – thanks to generous support from LTSF Chair Emeritus, and Young Shakespeare namesake, Geno Menchetti.
Join the cast of the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program as the cast of local professional actors team up with some of the area’s middle and high school students to present William Shakespeare’s chilling tale, Macbeth.
Macbeth has long been the greatest soldier and defender of the kingdom of Scotland but secretly always wanted the throne for himself. Now, after an encounter with three witches and urged on by his wife, the fearsome and fiery Lady Macbeth, he will take the crown. Shakespeare’s brilliant tragedy weaves a dark tale of supernatural forces and evil rising to power and the powers of good that rise to meet it. Can Macbeth be stopped before Scotland plunges into chaos and is destroyed? Join us at the D.G. Menchetti Young Shakespeare Program performances to find out!
Although the performances are free, reservations are required due to capacity limits at Sand Harbor at Lake Tahoe Nevada State Park and our Partner venues.

Lake Tahoe Shakespeare Festival’s theater at Sand Harbor State Park is an outdoor venue. It is sensible to consider the weather forecast. Young Shakespeare performances at Sand Harbor begin at 10 a.m. (Times vary for other venues.) Temperatures can vary quickly – from cool to hot. Please consider protection from the sun when planning your Sand Harbor visit – especially for younger family members in your party (hats, sunglasses, sunscreen and water).
Sand Harbor State Park charges a parking fee ($10 in-state license plates / $12 out-of-state license plates) and debit/credit cards are not accepted. Please plan to pay in cash. Due to higher volumes of summer traffic, please allow some extra time for your visit, plan to arrive early and consider carpooling.
We encourage you to bring snacks/water to Young Shakespeare performances at Sand Harbor State Park. Our staff and volunteers thank you in advance for cleaning up after your party’s Young Shakespeare visit as we prepare for evening performances.
